For the very first time in Leica’s history, a Leica M-Lens will be offered in the legendary olive green paint finish. To be produced in a planned quantity of only 500 lenses, the Leica Summicron-M 50 f/2, one of Leica’s most quintessential 50mm lenses, will sport the iconic olive green for a perfect match with the Leica M10-P ‘Edition Safari’ and all its military-inspired forebears to become the Leica Summicron-M 50 f/2 ‘Edition Safari’. The engravings for the distance scale measured in feet and the focal length are highlighted in red paint and stand in deep contrast to the bright white engravings on the lens, all of which are carefully applied by hand.
The technical specifications and optical performance of the Summicron-M 50 f/2 ‘Edition Safari’ match the popular serial production model. As the Leica M-System is known for its incredibly vast lens compatibility with old and new models, this new special edition lens can be used with all previously produced M-Cameras since 1954, standard and special edition alike, for a perfectly matched look or a starkly contrasted aesthetic statement.

The Summicron-M 50 f/2 stands out due to both its compact and well-proven optical design, as well as its legendary focal length which can provide natural perspectives. Its fine picture quality extends all the way to the extreme corners of the image field, and outstanding contrast is achieved at all apertures.
The well-balanced design makes this ideal standard lens an outstanding choice in terms of all criteria, including image quality, speed, size and weight. Stopping down to f/2.8 or f/4 brings only a minimal increase in contrast. Distortion is extremely low, practically invisible.
