Ralph Gibson

Also still in our collection is the unique silver Monochrom 'Ralph Gibson' prototype : N00/35 with black signature on the top plate and with black leather covering. Only 2 prototypes have been made of which one was engraved with a red signature on the top plate and covered with red leather (sold at Westlicht auction in Vienna in March 2014) and this one.
This camera stood model for the 35 sets ; Leica M Monochrom edition “Ralph Gibson” including a Summilux-M 1:1.4 / 35mm ASPH lens, which features a silver-anodized chrome finish (which was not produced at that time). Leica Store Lisse produced this together with Leica and released these sets on 11-12-13 together with the famous and well known “Mono” book. For decades Ralph was convinced that digital photography would never compare to analogue photography, but ever since we sent him the Leica M Monochrom for digital photography he never ever used an analogue camera !!
