This gold Leica M6 was dedicated to the 50th year of rule of King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
700 sets were made of this edition in 1996. Bhumibol made several impactful changes and strived to make life better for his people. As such, he was a beloved king. On top of that, Bhumibol was a productive artistic monarch.
As a prolific jazz musician, but also in painting and photography.
His work as a photographer and the celebration of his 50th year of rule culminated in the beautiful 24K gold plated special edition Leica M6 you see here, literally fit for a king.
The camera showcases the royal crest engraved on the top plate and painted red to match the red leather cladding. The crest is also visible on the wooden box and packaging. Moreover, all 700 kits have a unique serial number on both the lens and the body starting with “HM” which stands for His Majesty. This particular copy has special edition number HM-470.
