Leica Reporter 250 E.Aeronautica

*** SOLD ***

This Leica Reporter 250 E.Aeronautica and in this condition is simply impossible to find !! Truly the only 250 in the world and comes from the famous Ansaldi Leica collection !! This Leica 250 reporter GG  E.Aeronautica M is one of the 10 pieces delivered to the Italian Leica importer Cattaneo from Genova at the time. In Italy the two most famous and official Leica repairmen have been for years the SAMCA company which was also based in Genova. These two gentleman used to be Cattaneo's employees and they told me that they remembered the camera stayed in one of the Cattaneo shop shelf's for years after the war as it was never delivered to the Italian Air Force. Later it was sold at one of the Cornwall auctions. Ansaldi told me that he was there during that auction because he wanted to buy that camera but he was under bidden by another Italian collector,an entrepreneur from Biella, a famous city in Piemonte for clothing. Years later this person had some financial problems so he called Ansaldi and sold it to him since he knew he was still interested in this camera. The camera was published together with other cameras from Ansaldi's collection in the front page of the first number of Classic Camera. It only has got a small sign above the shoe done by Ansaldi whilst moving the camera in a cabinet he told me. When you look at the two cassettes, they really look as new, simply unbelievable !! If you look at the M on the top plate it is the same M that you can see engraved various years later on the top plate of the Leica M4-M cameras. M is of course for Motor, this is the only prewar or wartime camera to wear this engraving actually. Included  the original Leitz letter from Von Gyimes to Ansaldi itself.
