This magnificent books shows works from the Gallery of Honour in the prestigious Rijks Museum in Amsterdam. The paintings are masterfully reproduced, and shown in multiple magnifications. In this example you can see a 40% magnification of the painting of the swan, followed by a 100% crop of the painting. In such a large book the details, the brush strokes and the texture becomes visible in a way that is more apparent than when viewing the painting in the museum. Moreover, modern artists describe the way these masterpieces have impacted their own work.
The limited edition of ‘Rijks, Masters of the Golden Age’ is a work of art in itself. There are only 2500 pieces available of this very luxurious edition and each one of them is numbered and signed by Marcel Wanders. The books are bound by hand and the cover is provided with beechwood boards covered with the best quality cow leather. Various complex and impressive foil techniques have been used for the printing on the cover. The book comes with its own specially designed mango wood table and a ‘Behind the Scenes’ book.
